The Workshop

This course is designed for Beginners through to Intermediate level. Learn how to apply a wide range of image editing tools to your photo from subtle adjustments in colour to elaborate filters. Edit out unwanted objects as well as repairing old and torn photographs. Learn how to morph images, creating a new and unique image.

DAY 1
• Introduction – health & safety.
• Why photoshop – explain workings of jpeg and cmyk.
• Apply program tools on image.
• How to save images.
• Backups.


DAY 2
• Selection techniques.
• Select area – lasso/magic wand/add and subtract.
• Save selection.
• Manipulate selection – move/copy/paste/skew/distort/feather.
• Explain transparent background.
• Quick fix photographs.


DAY 3
• Layers – basics.
• What are layers.
• Hide a layer.
• Move a layer.
• Change opacity of layer.
• Merge layers.

DAY 4
• Combine images, change and manipulate using own images.
• Learn how to apply shadows/frames/glow/add watermark.

DAY 5
• Recap.
• Students work on own projects utilising the skills taught.

DAY 6
• Students finalise their own projects, print and display of students’ projects.

The Tutor

Monika Bayer has worked in the graphic art field for over 20 years. Employed as the Graphic Artist, Maryborough Hervey Bay Newspaper between 1990 and November 2004, ., involving a high level of computer literacy, extensive knowledge of digital imaging and graphic design techniques, and since that time, at their request, continued Monika Bayerpart time until January 2006, when she left to concentrate on her Graphic/Fine Art Business.
As a successful artist and sculptor Monika has utilised her extensive photography skills to maintain an accurate record of her art catalogue. These skills have stood her in good stead when submitting photographic images of her work for public and private art submissions, and when preparing photographs for inclusion on the web for other artists and interested persons.
Together with her extensive practical skills Monika has obtained her training qualifications, enabling her to pass on her skills in a easy to understand method.
