The Tutor
Born in Queensland, Australia in 1956, I have had a deep passion for this wonderful country of mine and from a very early age, have expressed this passion through drawing and painting. My formal art education commenced in 1976 when I attended the Queensland College of Art and graduated in 1979 with a ‘Diploma of Arts’ (Visual Communications). I then began a commercial art career in Graphic Design and Illustration which spanned some 28 years.
Since 2002 I have enjoyed my new role as fine artist and painter and am passionate about my new vocation. Although
I am still primarily a Visual Communicator, I celebrate my new found ‘Freedom of Expression’ through mediums
such as Acrylic, Oils, Pastel and Charcoal. Inspired by my environment, which manifests and reflects in my painting
subjects of many different genres, however Seascapes, Landscapes, and Portraiture predominate.
I am intoxicated by and inspired to create images using Australian themes, our unique, larger than life Australian characters, the scenery, seascapes, the vast emptiness of the outback, parched and foreboding landscapes, all of which provide endless opportunities and empowers my creative spirit to express “That Special Something” ...the true and unique essence of my subjects are revealed.
I also enjoy and celebrate my art through a personal commitment of sharing my knowledge, experience and skills with others through regular themed Painting Workshops and regular Adobe Desktop Publishing programs (eg. Photoshop).
