Landscape in Pastel and Mixed Media

The Workshop

RoadblockTricia will cover theory (including handouts) of Construction, the Third Dimension and Aerial Perspective in Landscape, utilizing mixed media with pastel. Participants will learn the techniques and methods of combining pastel with, or painting pastel over the top of, various
media. They will be completing several exercises, watching demonstrations, and working on five major landscape works.

Tuesday 29th
Constructing a Landscape, and the elements of the Third Dimension. Four exercises, and beginning (1) a landscape with an acrylic underpainting.

Wednesday 30th
Aerial Perspective Principles. Two exercises and beginning (2) a landscape using modelling compound.

Thursday 1st
If the weather permits, we will draw and gather outside objects for using in (3) a Collage and Mixed Media landscape. Continuing to work on the two landscapes already begun.

Friday 2nd
Four exercises, including using gesso and tissue paper. Theory on the Basic Principles of Balance, and beginning (4) an abstracted landscape.

Saturday 3rd
Selecting at least one technique from all previous exercises, and beginning the final (5) landscape, from the participants' own reference material.

Sunday 4th
Assessment and completion of landscapes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. This last day also includes a critique and question and answer session.

The Tutor

Tricia Reust is a visual artist working in most media. She exhibits regularly, teaches and is active in the arts community.

Tricia has had work accepted seven times in the Bald Archy National Touring Exhibition, has been published in the Australian Artist and Artists' Palette magazines, and completes several portrait commissions every year.

Tricia is a Master Pastellist with the Pastel Society of Australia, and is a member of Artists in Redcliffe, Visionaries, the Portrait Society of America and the Moreton Bay Regional Arts Council. Her awards cover many themes and media including pastel, portrait, mixed media and
miniature.
