The Workshop
This 2 day class will begin with a discussion of pencils, paper surfaces and other equipment. Demonstration of techniques with student exercises emphasising variety of tones and strokes, basic drawing skills and composition. You will find there is so much more to the humble pencil, than you ever imagined! On the second day, drawing will be student’s choice of subject matter with demonstrations of smooth effects, indenting, trees and leaf patterns, water and reflections. Alignment and proportions for portraiture.
A list of materials will be supplied with your receipt for payment of fees.
The Tutor
Maxine is a realist artist, specialising in Animals and portraiture. Her teaching methods are by demonstration and explanations, combined with a teaching ability to instil all the fundamentals. Her goals for her students are to increase their appreciation of art, to encourage beginners to venture into the pleasures of artistic expression, to empower them with skills to express artistic ideas for their own and viewers' enjoyment and to extend advanced students. Maxine's forte is portraits and she has the ability to motivate students to achieve accurate likeness, to capture the character of their subjects.
