Graphite and Pastels

Painting by Robbyn Gergos

The Workshop

The first two days of this workshop will be dedicated to drawing in graphite. You may think of drawing as something magical, maybe even as something beyond your grasp or understanding. But drawing is really an elemental skill, one that you can learn with no more effort than learning to walk, ride a bike or tie your shoe laces.

This course does exactly that. Here is your chance to venture through many interesting step by step drawing exercises. During these two classes you will be amazed by your new ability to see shapes and then being able to translate these images on to paper. This course is designed for beginners, or for those wishing to venture back to the necessary basics of drawing and painting.

Days three and four will be dedicated to Pastels. Here we learn a different approach, while still venturing step by step through the journey of pastels.

This class includes demonstrations and covers pastel pencil drawing techniques, sizing a portrait, measuring, lighting, studying tonal values and proportions and also photography.
