The Workshop
This is the place, and Pete is the person to help you capture the essence of true watercolour - making watercolour work for you. Pete does not handle Gauche, other additives or mixed media. The workshop is based on many demonstrations and one on one tutoring. Class will will include basic theory of watercolours, composition, tone vs colour and perspective and cover how to prepare drawings, simplify the subject and make expressive washes into beautiful paintings. Weather permitting at least one session will be on location. The subjects will range across the board from Venice scenes to Australian landscapes to city street scenes with an emphasis on bold interpretation with an impressionistic flair using the watercolour medium to help paint itself.
The Tutor
Born in New York City former Californian, Pete, now lives in Koala Beach NSW, where he works as professional artist/tutor. He began as a figurative artist, but is happy to paint and draw all sorts of compositions. His artwork began selling internationally in the early 90's. Although he won a 1st prize at the 2006 Gold Coast Sculptor Society Erotica Show for an acrylic nude, Pete concentrates all of his efforts now in watercolours (www.flickr.com/photos/petepinza).
When not painting or tutoring from his home studio, Pete is delighted to teach watercolours and life art at workshops around the country. Among those places where Pete tutors are: Pine Rivers Art Gallery, 2 seasons at the Maryborough Artfest, Redcliffe Art Society, The Waywood Gallery in Byron Bay, The Gold Coast Art School, Reach-Out Program in Brisbane and the Ocean Shores Art Expo in NSW.
Pete's watercolours are hanging in homes and commercial venues in Australia as well as the United States while his other forms of art have been sold to people in Europe and Asia as well.
Pete's tutoring style can be described as hands-on every step of the way and encourages students to complete as much work in a day as possible. Demonstration, guidance and work are the main themes in his workshops.
