Guitar Power

The Workshop

Guitar picture

Easy to get started, but difficult to master, the guitar can be fun, yet frustrating to learn. Designed for the intermediate player, this workshop offers new insights and ideas to help you break out of a rut, and move towards a more compleete understanding of chords and chord progressions, analysing the style of great players and the structure of music, plus heaps of tips, tricks and new licks. Throughout the week provision is made for personal tuition as well as many opportunities to perform in small and large group settings. Many guitar styles in a variety of musical forms are covered in a workshop designed to open awareness and explore new possibilities. Open to students with some experience 14 years and over.

The Tutor

Only a handful of performers can hold an audience spellbound with an acoustic guitar. Michael is one of them. Over 25 years as a professional musician, Michael has covered an enormous amount of ground. He has performed and recordd with symphony orchestras, appeared in countless concerts and toured with artists as diverese as Graeme Connors, The Bushwackers, Ann Murray, Christine Anu, Leo Kottke, Martin Taylor, Tommy Emmanuel and Albert Lee. He has travelled Australia inspiring young musiicians with his guitar workshops and has recorded seven solo CD's. Recognised by his peers as one of Australia's leading exponents of the acoustic guitar, Michael has been a finalist nine years running in the instrumentalist of the Year category of the CMAA awards, finally winning the coveted trophy in 1999, 2000 and again in 2003.
