Find yourself in Maryborough
Join the fun of
Queensland's Heritage City
Art Festival
Tuesday 29 June to Sunday 4th July 2010
Maryborough has been making history for 160 years and the Art Society has been part of it for 61 years. 2009 saw another very successful 2 weeks of art displays in City Hall, workshops in painting, drawing, music plus the fun of the circus for the kids. Special thanks to RADF funding to support the circus, without funding the circus would not have happened. For the young, with the support and generosity of the Maryborough High School, the workshops created great fun and learning for nearly 100 students
Enter a painting or two in the awards, or join a WORKSHOP
6 Days from Tuesday 29 June to Sunday 4th July 2010
While you attend a workshop, and there are ten to choose from, your spouse can soak up the ambience of Maryborough, visiting ten museums or one of the fifty plus restaurants and cafés and pubs. Enjoy a round or two of golf, go boating or just wander around and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of our Heritage City. There are sections at City Hall show for children and young people to enter art work, or have fun at workshops in circus training or drama for them.
The Workshops
Maxine Thompson will Tutor two workshops.
Graphite - First, two days of drawing and techniques with Graphite.
Pastels - Then she will tutor four days of pastels. As a master pastelist, Maxine is a member of the Queensland Pastel Society and can really impart her expertise.
Jenni Kelly
Acrylics - As only Jenni can “do” acrylics, be prepared to slop, drop, and swish your paint, and even produce several masterpieces!
Pam Grose
Different Strokes - Coming from Perth to give you an opportunity to do some amazing things with acrylics, faces, masks and swirls, with a few swishes as well!
Tricia Reust
Expert on Mixed Media, Tricia will combine this fascinating medium with Pastels for some really exciting results, come prepared to experience sensations you never thought possible!!
Pete Pinza
Pete puts a different light on Watercolour. He can impart some amazing new ideas that you will wonder at! As well as that he will pose for an untutored Life session one evening. All will be revealed.
Don Milner
Don will be here to show you some secrets of Traditional Painting, with your favourite medium, be it oils or acrylics.
Adriaan Vanderlugt
Sculptor extraordinaire from the Whitsundays, Hebel Stone is the fun stuff to carve and Adriaan is the expert to show you how!
Lightwire Theatrical Productions
Drama and Deception - Discover the freedom, spontaneity and play of mask work! A mask enables an actor to forget their normal persona and get lost inside someone else – be it the swaggering braggart Il Capitano, a mindless 'Shaun', or a snivelling old man. It permits you to be larger than life, grounds you in your body, and is a fantastic training experience that you can draw on, no matter what kind of actor you are or want to be.
Monika Bayer
Monika will share her knowledge and experience in the art of modifying and creating new dimensions, for cards, illustrations and fun with Digitally Enhanced Photography.
Create and enhance photos and you will be amazed with the results you can achieve.
Spaghetti Circus
Hopefully the circus will be back to keep the kids off the street and impart to them a wonderful learning experience as well as fun. This workshop is reliant on funding to make it happen, Confirmation later.
